African culture is rich and diverse. It is in the beautiful clothes worn across the African content, the cultural festivals different communities have, and in the rich dishes that are as tasteful as they are different. Here at Protea Hotel by Marriott Kampala, we appreciate the significance of culture to the communities we serve, and celebrate the diverse tapestry that makes up our visitors’ cultural fabric. This is why we launched ‘Swahili night’ on the 30th of July 2022.

Protea Hotel Kampala’s ‘Swahili Night’ is an event that will be held once every month with the aim of celebrating Kenyan delicacies. Intense research has gone into curating the event as the hotel is committed to carefully showcasing and celebrating Kenya through great food, music, dressing, and quality interactions. The chefs understand each dish, its origin story and its significance in the communities it is drawn from.

Swahili Night aims to not just make Kenyan guests feel at home but to also encourage different visitors from varying cultural backgrounds to experience and immerse themselves in a new culture. The event promises to be a one-of-a-kind event celebrating Kenyans as a people as well as East Africa as the culturally rich region it is. Swahili Night will be not just a gourmet experience, but a deep immersion into Kenya’s rich music and dressing.
